DigMyVET Introduction

1 February 2022

DigMyVET! Is a 24 month Erasmus Key Action 2 project which aims to provide innovating solutions to the challenges faced by VET centres and professionals during and beyond the pandemic. The project will develop a set of tools to support sustainable digital integration in vocational education and training to help staff and learners adapt to the changes in VET learning.

Main outputs:

  • Dig My VET Strategy Integration Handbook
  • Interactive “Digital Strategy” Benchmarking Tool
  • Modular Framework for a VET Digital Strategy
  • “Learn Digitally” Guide

The Digitise my Vocational Education and Training (Dig My VET!) project was developed as part of a European wide response to the challenges faced by education and training institutes during the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown. Such an unprecedented and tragic event also accelerated the much-needed digitisation of many educational institutes, but without a digital strategy in place, or any point of reference on how to implement digital changes.

In their haste, many vocational training colleges have taken a reactive, scattergun approach to digitisation viewing it as a necessity rather than a long-term strategy to be planned and integrated into existing governance and infrastructure.

This project aims to support VET learners and VET professionals to adapt to the digital transition in learning brought on by the pandemic. Through their ability to think from an increasingly digital perspective, VET professionals will be able to identify and address European ICT policy issues, by acting at local level, and will understand the bigger picture in terms of how their actions permeate up to contribute to national and European issues. This is strengthened by the peer-to-peer opportunities provided by both of the digital tools of this project, as well as being supported and given confidence by the benchmarking tool in IO2.

The DigMyVET project will develop a set of tools to facilitate sustainable digital integration in vocational settings by providing stakeholders with:

  • a handbook on digital integration strategy best practices
  • a modular framework for a digital strategy, to be adapted and implemented based on the organisational nuances and existing digital infrastructure and appetite
  • a supportive guide for vocational learners in managing their own learning journey when transitioning from a predominantly face-to-face learning environment to a remote, digital one
