P-Scales
P-Scales
  Realisation: 2013-2014

The main aim of the new project is to implement a new method for evaluation of learners with special educational needs according to the assessment criteria certified in the United Kingdom as P-Scales.

Principle of assessment is based on learning outcomes whose achievement is awarded by certificates. Certificates are used as motivation for further education of learners with special needs. The whole system is transparent and can be used as a base for development of individual educational plans.
The project is realized by Euroface Consulting s.r.o. in cooperation with Primary School Opava, Havlíčkova 1.

The source of inspiration was the method of evaluation P-Scales including online platform operated by a British organization The Learning Machine Ltd. (www.theingots.org).

Learning outcomes and detailed evaluation criteria have been created recently with the link to the Czech environment. Pilot teachers set the levels, the expected outcomes at various levels and the evaluation criteria in the subject Science. After entering into the online system the students were assessed and the feedback from users and an external evaluator PhDr. Lenka Krejčová,Ph.D., has been processed.

Using the experience of the pilot study was initiated the preparation of the system for assessing students in following subjects: Mathematics, Czech Language and Literature, History, IT, Foreign Language, Biology, and Social and ethical education.
The assessment of the students in all those subjects started in September 2014. The evaluation process using the P-Scales method is based on cooperation between teachers, students and parents and has worked well in the partner school.
At the end of the project all 126 students of the school were evaluated in the system and 1 152 certificates were issued. Adjusted learning outcomes became the basis for IVP. The system is being actively used and the school plans to convert other subjects into this method as well.

The project has also supported the use of innovative educational activities in the classroom using interactive tools. 13 methodologies have been prepared and innovative educational activities were integrated in teaching (www.euro-face.cz/hry).

The project was presented at the conference organized by the Department of Psychology, Charles University in Prague “School as a meeting place 2014” (http://psychologie.ff.cuni.cz/) and the conference “School for all” organized by elementary schools and kindergartens in Deblín (http://zs.deblin.cz/).
