Art and Culture Recorded for e-Ternity

The Art project makes part of the international museum world and other cultural / religious institutions accessible to a Europe-wide target group: students aged 8 to 16 years. It is evident that no, or hardly any travel is now possible due to the COVID-19 virus, this has an effect on the mobility of everyone, including students and teachers. The ART VR (virtual reality) method opens up the museum world to students and teach them the ability to think critically and to form an opinion.

The ART project connects Virtual Reality methodology to global citizenship and art education. VR makes it possible to simulate a 3D world that completely surrounds us. Through various recordings of museums, (temporary) exhibitions, historical and cultural buildings, the students not only get a beautiful picture of different museums, all kinds of art and history but they are also offered various assignments and explanations and they are taught about their own active contribution to global citizenship.

20.07.2023 Visit European monuments virtually

In the ART project, we have created virtual tours to convey the experience of visiting a museum or other cultural monument without the need to travel. The project responded to limited travel during the COVID-19 pandemic and also found its use for children for whom travel is difficult due to health reasons. It then proved to be useful in schools for the possibility of immediate use during the lesson. For some children, it also acts as a motivation to go see a specific place.

To create a virtual tour, we selected regional objects, often less known in other countries. You can virtually visit, for example, the Library in Bruges, the mosque in Madrid or the Jewish cemetery in Holešov and many others. Virtual tours were primarily created for 3D glasses, but are also freely accessible from the website: webgl.museum360.nl

01.12.2022 Students tested VR in schools

Another partner meeting of the ART project took place last week in beautiful Ghent, Belgium. The partners mainly talked about their experiences from schools, where they presented 3D glasses for VR to the students and teachers.

The students had a chance to visit various museums, churches and other interesting places. The feedback in all countries is very positive, the students really liked the innovative learning system. The partners also had on the agenda the next steps of the project and planning of the last meeting in Madrid. You can find more information about the project here.

24.08.2022 New possibilities with virtual reality

In the ART project, we offer children at primary and secondary schools the opportunity to view museums and cultural monuments through virtual reality. We create tours using 360° camera and supplement the images with points of interest, quizzes and snippets of history. The goal is to arouse children´s interest in life around us and to support education for active citizenship.

In the August 2022, we introduced 3D glasses to a group of children at a summer camp for the first time. The children could virtually visit the Holešov synagogue and the Jewish cemetery, the Kroměříž Museum and the Nature Museum in Rymice. The event was a great success, the children actively participated in the discussion and they enjoyed the insight into history with the use of technology. From September 2022, we will continue with virtual tours.

12.05.2022 Partnership meeting in the Netherlands

After four meetings in the online environment, the ART project partners finally had the opportunity to meet in person. In the second half of April 2022 they met in Burgh Haamstede, Netherlands and planned to complete virtual tours for primary and secondary school students.

Some countries will start the first phase of piloting in the form of introducing VR glasses in schools in May. Children will be able to virtually walk through well-known and lesser-known museums, churches and other historic buildings in different countries. This will perhaps bring the idea of visiting these or other interesting places in person or at least looking for more information.
