Antwerp Brought Inspiration to Schools from the Moravian-Silesian Region

Antwerp

We were entrusted by the Regional Facility for Further Education of Teaching Staff to organize an international study visit for 15 principals and deputy principals of primary and secondary schools from the Moravian-Silesian Region in Antwerp, Belgium.

In creating the program, we worked closely with representatives of the City of Antwerp, the Department of Education, and organizations providing support services to schools in Antwerp and the surrounding area. Together, we developed a comprehensive program focused on topics that are also priorities for schools in the Czech Republic—namely, teachers’ professional development, collaboration, and quality improvement in teaching. The participants had the opportunity to learn about the Flemish education system and its specific features in Antwerp. We visited several primary and secondary schools, observed lessons, and explored specialized topics presented by support staff, such as interschool collaboration projects, leadership, and networking. The program concluded at the Faculty of Education in Ghent, completing the mosaic of insights into teacher education in Flanders.
Our role was to ensure the complete organization of the study visit, including group accompaniment and interpretation of the professional program.
We would like to thank all participants for their active engagement and for creating an incredible atmosphere of openness and sharing.
